Kayak Rescue Skills and Sea Safety

This weekend course is designed for anyone that has been kayaking on the sea before with us and is looking to gain the skills required to keep yourselves safe when you go out either on their own or as part of your own group.

We will look at all aspects of planning a safe trip on the sea and keeping yourself safe whilst on the trip. The two day course will involve looking at interpretation of the weather and selecting a suitable venue, the extra equipment you should have on you and the use of this kit, rescuing techniques including self rescuing as well as rescuing other group members if they capsize. We will also look at scenarios that may arise at sea and how best to deal with them, for example an injured group member or how to repair a damaged boat.

By the end of this course you will have enough information to venture on your own trips at sea and feel safe in the knowledge that you have an arsenal of tools to firstly avoid any situations arising but if they do you will know how best to deal with them.
